Chih-Neng Chang

 

Mr. Chang was born in Taipei City in 1965 and grew up there.  He obtained a bachelor degree in Chemistry in National Sun Yat-Sen University in Kaohsiung, southern Taiwan in 1988.  He went to United States for his study in the graduate program in University of Massachusetts, at Lowell in January, 1992 and earned the Ph.D. degree in Polymer Science/Plastic Engineering Option in June 1996.  He studied very hard there and had a GPA of 3.75 (A: 4.0; AB: 3.5; B: 3.0) in almost double the required academic credits for the Ph.D. degree.

 

He started his career as a patent scientist since April 2007.  Before then, he had worked for the research and development in the industries for more than ten years, and had at least eleven US patents with his inventorship.

 

He worked at Far Eastern Textile Ltd., as the manager of R&D group, from December 2004 to March 2007.  He was in charge of several projects related to the development of optical coatings, polymer material surface treatments and optical polymer films used in the TFT LCD panels, and also responsible to survey and analyze the technologies and products close to their core technologies with the high potentials in the future markets, such as the flexible displays, thin film solar cells, etc. in order to select the appropriate development topics for my R&D group as the concern of long-term R&D strategies and competitiveness.

 

From July 2001 to October 2004, He was working as the manager of R&D Department at Prodisc Technology, Inc. for more than three years.  Within this period, several new optical component products used in the digital projectors and rear projection TV were successfully developed.  A lot of patents relevant to these products came out.  Regarding Taiwan patents, more than thirty patents with his inventorship had been granted with the certificates.  For foreign patents, at least eleven US patents were granted.  Due to the technical cooperation with Texas Instrument (TI) USA, in the meantime, he had business trips to TI several times for the technical meetings there.

 

He worked at FibX Corporation from October 1998 to June 2001.  FibX was a subsidiary of Canadian company JDSU, which is the largest fiberoptic component supplier around the world.  He was the R&D group leader and responsible for several development projects.  Also He took charge of writing the ISO 9001 documents for ¡§Design Control¡¨.

 

He once taught the class, ¡¨The Transport Phenomena of Organic Polymer Materials¡¨, as a part-time assistant professor in the Department of Polymers, National Taiwan University of Science and Technology in year 2003.

 

Based on his knowledge and working experience, he can discuss with the clients and can well understand the techniques of the inventions by the clients.  So the patent specifications and claims with high quality can be anticipated.
