Chih-Yuan Cheng

Chih-Yuan Cheng was graduated from the Department of Civil Engineering in NCKU. Later he went to the graduate school of N.C.U and N.T.U, and received the Master’s degree from N.T.U. He was born at Chungli city and stayed there till he was 16 when he moved to Taipei for attending the senior high school. He has a warm and caring family. Both parents are retired teachers and are currently devoted themselves to various volunteer works.

At graduate school in NTU, his research was on the field of structure engineering and ocean engineering. In fact, he got some novel and interesting results from his research, which were later published at the Bulletin of College of Engineering, N.T.U. (2001), and Coastal Engineering 50 (2004), an authoritative international journal for coastal and harbor engineering.

Before joining DEEP & FAR , he had some other job experiences. He was a research assistant at the Institute of Information Science of National Academia Sinica for two years where he was a member of the National Research Project of Advanced Intelligent Transportation System for studying the geographic information system for urban traffic use. Later he was a structure engineer in Sunhou Architect Partnership and Engineering Consultanting Company, where he had practiced in building structure analysis and design. And after that he worked as a project engineer at Chain-E Systems Company, where he acquired lots of knowledge and developed strong interests in analyzing and designing information systems.

At his leisure time, Chih-Yuan enjoys photography and all kinds of outdoor adventures such as hiking, rock climbing, and diving. At college he joined the Mountain-climbing Club and served as the leader/president of the club for a semester. After exploring many mountains and wildness beauty in Taiwan and overseas, he has become a certified mountain guide, rock climbing instructor, and advanced diver. He has a friendly personality and collaborates well with people. On the other hand, he is not afraid of facing challenges, and is always trying to do his best to develop his full potential.
