Born and grown in metropolitan Taipei, I was once the big city¡¦s little boy.  I graduated from Tamkang University majoring Mechanical Engineering.  After two years of military service in the Army, I went to graduate school in the U.S. and received M.S. degree of the same major from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Stony Brook.  During the years in campus, I proved myself a versatile student who is capable of excelling in different kinds of activities, indoors as well as outdoors.  I was always among the key participants of student union.  Even though under a certain pressure when studying in the graduate school, I helped the Taiwanese student union in SUNY to coordinate every event in the year of 1989 including an out-of-campus performance by the ROC Youth Missions.  I enjoyed good relationship with my classmates, and loved to spend my leisure time in extra-curricular activities while keeping my grading in good control.  My overall GPA in graduate school was 3.82.

I started my career from the Industrial Technology Research Institute(ITRI) as a QA engineer and stayed in the field of QA for more than 15 years, including the accumulated service of 10 years in two high-tech electronic IDM companies with known international brand name.  During the period from 2003 to 2005, I had returned ITRI to try on business promotion.  It was the time I first explored to the IP industry.  Intellectual property is the main product for a research institute.  ITRI owns the most number of patents among Taiwanese research institute.  Therefore, one survival kit of ITRI is to make all those IP become values for earning money.  Based on some 20 utility and design patents, we helped our RFID team collect overseas investment over six million USD.  Combining the resources from domestic investors, we helped the team find a new start-up company Claridy.  My main portion in the taskforce was to handle the contact review/approval and IP transfer process.  It was quite an experience to me, to deal with all those legal issues.  I was then selected as the seeds to join a series of training for patent engineers.  Sales and marketing for patents became my major job function before I left ITRI.

Playing bridge is my favorite leisure activity.  I was the champion of the national inter-collegiate bridge tournament back in my freshman year.  Bridge has been part of my life for more than 30 years.  For the return to the bridge society that I enjoyed so much in my life, I had took over the position of the Secretary General of Chinese Taipei Contract Bridge Association from 2001 till 2003.  The Chinese Taipei open team won the Asian Pacific Bridge Championship 2001 and came in the fifth place in the World Bridge Championship 2003.  Beside mind competition, I am also good at physical sports.  I was a member of the table tennis team when in middle school, and the playing captain of volleyball team of ME department while in college.  When serving as the class representative in the senior year of college, I lead my class to sweet all the gold medals from sport competition in the ME department.  In recent years I enjoyed playing softball and swimming during the weekends.  Sport is now a basic recipe to stay healthy for my body.

Currently I live with my wife and our only daughter in Hsinchu.  My parents stay in a large community at downtown Taipei where it is convenient for the elder people.  Although in good health condition, my father has been in the age of late eighties and my mother seventies.  There has been no child living with the parents since my sister moved to Hong Kong for work in 2006.  Therefore, I feel it should be the time for me to stay closer to them.  I have decided to move back to Taipei after the lunar new year.

At the age of 45, I am still trying the best I can to be as good as a youngster both physically and mentally.  Passionate to the people, enthusiastic to the professional work environment, and committed to the goal, I am a person who really enjoys hard working for a high level of contribution to the team.  I really appreciate the opportunity for me to shift my career path to the service industry.  So once again, the big city¡¦s ¡§little¡¨ boy will be back to the place where he was born and grown.  Hopefully he will keep the momentum upward and eventually enjoy a great career life till the end.
