Autobiography

After working in hospital for one year, for challenging myself, I studied and got a master degree of pharmacy in Graduate institute of Biopharmaceutical Science. During these two years, I got a big harvest form lectures and laboratory training.  My thesis is ¡§Studies on the Correlation in Biological Activity, Absorption and Metabolism of Herbal Polysaccharides¡¨, focused on the immuno-modulatory effect of Chinese herbs.  Among all experiments at school, I was impressed by the animal experiments which I have ever attended because those experiments offer the opportunity to cooperate with others.  As there are many variations in animal experiments, we should understand and communicate with each other for completing a complex task.  Through cooperating with others who have different skills, I learned a lot from them and very enjoyed.

When I graduated from school, I stayed in my lab as a research assistant.  Most of my work is preparing patent applications for our research results, including data integration, prior art search, and communication about specification with patent engineers.  When the patent specification is finished, I review the patent specification.  At that time, there were many patent applications which were derived from profits of industrial-university cooperation.  Additionally, when it comes to patent licensing, patent value and future income become key issues, and that also reminded me the importance of intangible assets valuation in biopharmaceutical industry.  In this point of view, I also attended the ¡§Training course for a Certificate in IP Valuation¡¨ held by the Industrial Technology Research Institute, for learning basic concepts of valuation.  Upon this new stimulation, I figured it out that my scientific background should be helpful in the aspect of patent application and valuation.  I hope that I can keep advanced based on the training in the graduate school.  In the future, I wish that I can work with a team including partners with different professional background, and become a cross-discipline person in biotechnology and IP management.
